Our grandson Jason will grow up to solve many puzzles if he turns out to be just like his Dad.

I need summer to slow down . . .

I keep hearing ads for back to school shopping!!! I can't stand it, it is still July, July not August and definitely not September. Last week was pretty great, Walt took vacation and we headed up to Inlet. We had a lovely relaxing time.

more sewing . . . . .

The first tote was made with fabric that John toted up from Florida, ha,ha! It really is nice but I noticed when I was done that I couldn't find the fox that the hunters were seeking. Then I found him on the strap, thought that was cool.

I am pretty unhappy with these pictures, the totes are so much prettier up close, gotta find a new spot for photos. Anyway, I am making these in hopes of selling a few, anyone interested?

cardboard testimony . . . . enjoy

garage sale find . . . .

My son Jason and my dil Holly love to peruse garage sales. They sent us a great baby/toddler life jacket (like new) and a bag of buttons, look at the price, what a deal and I will put them to good use. I love the ones with the knot and the one with the swirl, they look so vintage. I'm not sure, they may not even be old but I do like them. I've asked Jason to be on the lookout for sewing stuff when he goes to these sales, bet he didn't know how excited I would be.

two posts today . . .

Okay, so I haven't been blogging much, I have been sewing, a lot, making this and that. Just went out to wander around the yard and snap some pics. I get stiff sitting too long and the breeze coming off the lake is refreshing. It has been really humid and my joints ache, that is no fun but the garden is.
The first one is Snow on the Mountain, my brother Barry gave it to me, it is prolific but pretty. This second picture is blurry sorry, gotta hold that camera still! The next planter my sister gave me last summer, very Adirondacky.

I love the way the dark tobacco vine contrasts with the coleus and the impatiens, so pretty, some of my favorites.

Whoops don't know why Joy's tile is turned but I think Jason, Jr. and Trinity need to hurry on over to the ceramic store, j/k. I do love these because they are all very sweet.

Decided to try pink nasturiums this year. I love nasturiums! They seem so old fashioned and dear to me. Not many flowers yet, you can only see one above. I heard they like it on the dry side.

The raspberries are doing okay, just year two, I keep picking them and eating them. But the sugar snap peas are bursting and there will be many!

The lettuce, salad bowl, so pretty and the basil, smells so good and the onions, still growing. The lettuce isn't going to last much longer, it is getting too hot out.

Ah the yellow crookneck and the zucchini! Can't wait, especially if Katie is around to cook the zucchini, she made some this past weekend with fresh breadcrumbs, etc., so delish.

Will ya look at all the flowers on the green beans, they have just started to produce and there will be lots, hope I can give some away. Green beans are my favorite veggie, love em raw or cooked, crunchy or overcooked, just plain love em!

it was a long holiday weekend . . . .

But it was a good one. The weather was spectacular, each day better then the next so no complaints here. We didn't go to the fireworks on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night but we did watch our neighbors shows which were quite amazing. Where do people get all those fireworks and isn't it expensive? Because we have a panoramic view we could see fireworks in many directions, it was quite a show. We tried out our new free standing fire ring that Meg and Jeff gave Walt for Father's Day and it was a success, our smores came out just right.

Courtney, Annabelle, Patrick and Katie were here quite a bit, unfortunately Adam had to work. But he was here Thursday and on Sunday afternoon for awhile, which made his ride to work pretty long, thanks for coming Adam.

We also went to the 4th of July parade in Northville, a first for us and it was fun. Sacandaga Park, where Pat lived for the last year had their own float so we went along to see them. Their theme was Elvis lives and there were many Elvis' on board.

On Saturday night we went back to Northville to see the Christian band Unspoken, they were fabulous, got a cd. They also did the Praise music in church on Sunday, hope they come back next year! Annabelle had her first ride in the boat and first wearing of a life jacket, no protests and she fell right to sleep. Walt, Courtney and I went to the fireworks Sunday night by boat, it was fun, but honestly, I almost fell asleep after the busy weekend. The finale woke me up.

Megan will be shocked to know we didn't go out for ice cream until Sunday night, now that is truly amazing for this group. But Katie made this gorgeous cake.

It was red velvet with real whipped cream and fresh strawberries and blueberries, delish. I had it for breakfast on Monday!

This is Henry, Court and Adam's friend's baby, I guess Annabelle and he have an arranged marriage but I think Annabelle is thinking, can I have my boat back please? His Mom brought him up to visit on Sunday.

Katie brought Connor up on Sunday, he is 2 1/2 years old and such a cutie. She has cared for Connor since he was an infant while his Mom works. He renamed the Great Sacandaga Lake to Pat's lake, and justifiably so don't ya think? He is pretty crazy about Pat.

Courtney lost her wallet in Northville while we were at the concert or the parade, we are not sure but happily someone turned it in to the police. I'm thinking she may have lost it at the concert. Thank you Lord. It was a great weekend.

Ah the 4th is almost here . . . . .

Our lakehouse is in a tiny Adirondack town so we still have a Grand Union Supermarket, there are not many left. So this morning I hurried in to town to purchase some plastic Adirondack chairs, not the kind I prefer, love old wooden ones but I saw a deal yesterday on some so I thought I could supplement what we have. So anyway, didn't buy them yesterday and today there were only 3 left!!! I wanted 6, oh dear, I was dissapointed but it was my fault so I bought the three, crammed them in my car and started home. As I was driving I was noticing the American flags everywhere and decided to ride around town and take some pictures of how they were displayed. Thus the slideshow above, enjoy it and enjoy your Fourth of July with your friends and family. We have fireworks displays here every day starting tonight so I am sure we will catch some. There is also a parade, maybe we will head into town and watch it.
